History - Who we are & why we're unique

For 25 years Midnight Modulation has been a guiding force in the history of music in Woodstock, NY. The legendary WOODSTOCK - MOODS & MOMENTS album was recorded here in the Midnight Modulation living room in 1975. Many other Woodstock compilation albums have been recorded here as well as artists as diverse as THE BAND, NRBQ, John Sebastian, John Hall, Jules Shear, Jean Redpath, The FUGS, Dave Matthews and so many more. Eclecticism is the key to our recording artists and styles. We supply the artist with a quiet, laid back enviornment for recording your record or demo-totally secluded in the woods. Relax in our blue room, our outdoor deck, shoot a game of pool or play ping pong. Best of all, we have access to the best musicians in the Woodstock area - as well as the best engineers and producers.

Many songwriters & bands are intimidated by recording studios - we don't blame you. The secrataries, staff, the clock, the huge room. We have none of that! Our mission 25 years ago was to set up a living room environment for artists. For the first 10 years, our living room WAS our studio with no control room. In 1983 we built a seperate studio attached to the house with direct access to the kitchen and deck.

Starting out as a place to record my own songs, other artists wanted to record here and it multiplied like crazy and that's our secret. We've gone from 4tr-quarter inch to 8tr-half inch to 16tr-1 inch to 24 track ADAT. With our new Mackie 24/8 console and 3 ADATs, great outboard gear, EMAGIC logic digital recording/notating & audio editing, top notch midi modules, Yamaha grand and other classic insturments, and the best prices around, we simply can't be topped.
